A Youth Fellowship mission group from St.Paul UCC, Pinkneyville, Illinois, visited SEV Habitat for the week of July 11-16. This is their 6th mission trip with us, and they did so much work for Habitat while they were here with us. Each day was packed with a full schedule of activities to help others. The younger ones worked at our Re-Store, cleaning, organizing shelves, washing windows and making the exterior beautiful by weeding and mulching.
The adults worked for three days at the building sites in Pinehurst subdivision, where we are completing the first three homes.
They met and worked with our regular volunteers, staff and partner families, and when they were not volunteering with Habitat, they were delivering a year’s collection of outfits for interviews to Halifax Urban ministries. They also traveled to Orlando to deliver 1,000 pillows to sick children, and helped serve and clean up at the community hot meal program at Hollister Hall. In all, they served 5 missions in one week. After working so hard all day, they managed to fit in an occasional swim at the beach and a tour of Daytona Beach. We are so grateful for their help and hard work, and hope they will choose to visit us again in 2017.
